The first two illustrated volumes of the trilogy »DDR in Objects« show selected objects from the collection of the DDR Museum from four decades of GDR history. Volume 1 presents 1,200 objects of the German Democratic Republic on 400 pages on the topics of everyday life, home and consumption. Volume 2 is also dedicated to over 1,000 objects of the German Democratic Republic on the topics of leisure, culture and travel on 400 pages.
In the collection volumes, authors Dr. Stefan Wolle and Quirin Graf Adelmann v. A. provide entertainingly informative insights into the everyday life as well as the economic and product history of this past state. In the first volume, 35 objects and in the second volume 34 objects are highlighted on a separate double-page spread due to their special significance and exciting history.
All the objects in the illustrated volumes come from the collection of the GDR Museum, which with over 300,000 artifacts boasts the world's largest museum collection on the subject. The illustrated books were curated by the museum's collection experts.
