Reward yourself or others with this small award based on a historical model. There was no shortage of heroes in the GDR. They stood at the forefront of production and won the harvest battle every year. They were rewarded with lots of medals and even more tinny platitudes. Since 1950, the honorary title »Hero of Labor« had been awarded on October 7, the Republic's birthday, along with a bonus of 10,000 marks. This honor was bestowed on workers and collectives from factories as well as high-ranking state officials. The last medals were awarded on October 5, 1989. A few weeks later, the gold-plated tin stars were lying in the bargain bins of street vendors.
