About the author: Dr Stefan Wolle is the scientific director of the DDR Museum and one of the leading GDR experts. Wolle studied history in East Berlin, was an employee of the Academy of Sciences in the GDR and an expert at the round table during the Reunification. Later he was an employee of the Federal Commissioner for the Records of the State Security Service and the Federal Foundation for the Study of the Communist Dictatorship in Eastern Germany as well as of the SED State Research Association. His numerous specialist books are among the most widely read on the subject.
