Bürokratopoly, which has been recognised by the Federal Agency for Civic Education, is an educational game with a historical context: in 1983, Martin Böttger invented "a board game with a negative, hostile character that shows the supposed ways of gaining and losing power in the GDR". This is how the Stasi described it in its file on the game. The aim of Bürokratopoly is to rise from a simple worker to the position of general secretary.

The DDR Museum has reworked the game in collaboration with educators and game experts and created accompanying materials.
