The first two illustrated volumes of the trilogy »GDR in Objects« show selected objects from the collection of the DDR Museum from four decades of GDR history. Covering 400 pages, volume 1 presents 1,200 objects from the German Democratic Republic on the topics of everyday life, home and consumption. Volume 2 is dedicated to more than 1,000 objects from the German Democratic Republic on the topics of leisure, culture and travel, also covering 400 pages.

In the collection volumes, authors Dr. Stefan Wolle and Quirin Graf Adelmann v. A. provide entertaining and informative insights into everyday life, as well as the economic and product history of this bygone state. 35 objects in the first volume and 34 objects in the second volume are highlighted on a separate double-page spread to showcase their special significance and exciting history.

All objects in the illustrated volumes come from the collection of the DDR Museum, which has the world's largest museum collection on this subject with over 300,000 artefacts. The illustrated books were curated by the museum's collection experts.
